The Sakya Lam Dre Lineage
The Sakya "Path and It's Fruit" transmission

The Sakya "Lam Dre" (Path and It's Fruit) transmission is the most sacred core teachings of the Sakya tradition. Originating with the Mahāsiddha Virupa, these teachings have been passed from one generation to the next for over a millenium and contain the essence of the Tripitaka (Sūtra) and Vajrayāna (Tantric) teachings. Although the Lam Dre is a single teaching, it is presented, depending on the capacities of the students, either as a gradual (common) path, or as a direct (uncommon) path, both which lead to the the ultimate of Buddhahood.

Lam Dre is also know as the "Triple Vision" which refers to the various steps: "The Impure Vision", "The Vision of Experience", and "The Pure Vision".
