Dharma Heirs of Yeshe Tsogyal



Lady Yeshe Tsogyal (757-817) was born under auspicious circumstances as the Princess of Kharchen.

After Padmasambhava's arrival in Tibet she received highest empowerments from him and became his formost student.

She is considered to be the incarnate Dākinī principle (space/emptiness) and in this role is often portayed as Guru Rinpoche's tantric partner. After Padmasambhava's departure from Tibet she is said to have encoded his teachings/empowerements in Dakini script, to be discovered at a later date by "Tertons" or treasure revealers. As a highly accomplished teacher in her own right she taught a number of students, primarily in east Tibet, some of whom are listed in the table below.
